Saxon Summer XX will be held June 24-25, 2023

Join the Shire of Rivenvale for Saxon Summer XX. It’s a fun casual event, perfect for camping and catching up with friends, where armored combat, archery, thrown weapons, and classes abound. Site opens at 10am Sat, and closes at noon Sun. Gate Open for Arrival (plan to arrive only during these scheduled times): Sat.: 9am – 3pm

Note: Alcohol is permitted on the site, in your campsite only. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and will result in eviction without refund.

Registration:
Day Trip (non-camping): $5 (Paid directly to Chestnut Ridge)
Adult Registration (included primitive camping):  $20 (Paid directly to Shire)
Adult SCA Member Registration (includes primitive camping):  $15 (Paid directly to Shire)
Minor:  Free, must be accompanied by an adult
Tent Camping & Merchants: Included with Registration (Merchants free)

Additional Trailer Camping:  You must RSVP with the park in advance.  Expect to pay their full price and note that you will be placed in the regular modern part of the park which is a 3-4 minute walk from the Back Tenting Area that we have reserved for the event.  See their web page for additional details:  https://chestnutridgecampground.com/
Members must bring their card to receive the member rate. 
Pre-registration is not needed for camping. Minors cannot be admitted without an adult.

Unscheduled Activities
The park offers several modern activities that we are allowed to do while on their property.  Note that these will be done outside of the area that we have reserved for the event and that the parks modern guests will be there at the same time.  While not part of our scheduled event, we are listing this for folks who may be interested.  If you use any of these, it will be as a guest of the park.
Playground:  Very nice selection of equipment is available.  Supervise your own children.  There is no playground monitor provided.
Fishing:  Catch & release fishing lake and pond. No license required. They do not sell bait. You may fish between the hours of 11:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Feast: Saxons on Campaign – $20, pre-register only (limited to 20)

Feast will be an open fire feast, and limited to 20 (not 30 as previous post says). Must pre-register. No feast gear will be provided. Please bring your own.

Venison or chicken on a spit with salt and pepper (this is a change from the previous post)

Merchants
There is plenty of room for outdoor booths.  We do NOT charge any merchant fees!  You pay only what everyone else pays for entrance to the event.  Sorry but we cannot provide tables, etc. at this site.  There is also no water/electric.  You will need to provide your own complete setups.  You must R.S.V.P by contacting the Event Steward with your needed land size requirement.

Site Conditions
This is a totally outdoor site.  While there are no stairs to traverse, there are also no roads/paths.  All activities are in a field which may be rough terrain and the conditions will vary with the weather. Ice & firewood are available for sale on site.  Showers are available on site.  

Site Rules
The Speed Limit in the park is 5 MPH.  If you do not feel that you are driving ridiculously slow, then you are driving too fast. You are required to stop at all stop signs.  They are very concerned about children’s safety.  Please honor this. Upon initially entering the Park, you must stop at the office (the first building that you get to) and register.  They will give you a vehicle pass and/or a hand stamp for exit/reentry to the park. Pets are allowed.  There is a limit pets to two per camper.  Regardless of breed, no aggressive dogs are permitted to stay.  Dogs must be leashed (max. 6 ft.) at all times, cleaned up after, and never be left alone in any area of the park.  The must being kept quiet and not allowed to disturb other guests.  Keep dogs away from the playground, swimming beach, and barn. Dog may not swim in either lake.  Proof of rabies vaccination must be provided upon request. This is NOT a dry site.  Keep obviously modern containers (cans) out of view.  Alcohol is not permitted outside of the Back Tenting Area that we have rented.  Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
Campfires are allowed at designated locations in the fire rings provided or in your own raised fire bowl.  No Digging of fire pits. Please help us preserve the ambiance of this camping site.  Restrict artificial light sources to the inside of tents, no gas lanterns, and limit your use of flashlights.  Avoid all modern music. Quiet hours are from 11 pm until 8 am. When leaving the campground, “Leave No Trace”. Take all trash to the dumpsters which are located near behind the shower building.
Violators may be removed without refund.
